You probably have seen glass beads or glass ornaments, but have you ever seen how glass beads are made? And, if you have seen how they are made on a modern torch, have you ever seen a small piece of glass being molten over a charcoal fired loam furnace to be wound into a glass bead?
I am making glass beads over a loam furnace for several years now. I love the slow process of heating glass, melting it and showing the public on the markets or events how beads are made. I love talking about glass and showing how beads are made.
It is a great feeling showing a craft to people who have never seen it before. The moment I wind the molten glass around a mandrel and the molten glass becomes a round bead still amazes me every time.
You can find me on different markets this year, please see the calendar. In the mean time you can always send me a mail at info at dekralenmaker.nl or look me up on instagram and send me a DM if you have questions about my craft.
See you soon!
